The doctor named factors that are associated with the development of dementia. First of all, it is age and heredity. The neurologist also listed diseases that increase the risk of developing pathology.
Dementia is most often diagnosed in people over 65 years of age. This was reported by neurologist Vladimir Martynov.
The risk of developing pathology is much higher if there were relatives in the family who faced this disease, he specified in conversation with RIA Novosti.
“The most vulnerable to dementia are people over 65 years old, especially if they have a predisposition by inheritance,” Martynov said.
As for diseases that increase the risk of dementia, they include hypertension, diabetes, overweight, stroke.
Also Martynov noted that forgetfulness is a consequence of fatigue, stress or lack of sleep, and dementia is a disease that requires medical supervision.
Recall, the symptoms of dementia include a smooth, gradual decline in cognitive abilities. A person experiences pronounced memory impairment, forgetfulness, absent-mindedness, inattention, and often memory for current events is impaired.
