Russia has launched mass production of the first rapid test that detects coronavirus in saliva.
A Moscow-based company has developed an express test for coronavirus that can detect the virus in saliva. According to the capital's government, the first Russian test of such a sample successfully passed registration and went into mass production.
In order to determine the presence of the virus, a person just need to spit on the rapid test. The result will be known in 7-10 minutes. Moreover, due to high rates of diagnostic sensitivity, this test can detect even asymptomatic patients.
It is reported that the company has already produced the first batch of 20,000 express tests. Soon they will be supplied to the pharmacies of the country, said Vladislav Ovchinsky, the head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy.
In the future the enterprise will be able to produce up to 40 million tests per year.
