The World Health Organization met with Chinese officials to discuss the new outbreak of the virus related to the end of the «zero-Covid» policy.
"A high-level meeting was held Dec. 30 between WHO and China on the current spike in cases of Covid-19 disease to learn more about the situation and to offer WHO expertise and support," the UN health agency said in a statement.
"WHO reiterated its request for regular sharing of specific data on the epidemiological situation in real time, including more data on genetic sequencing and the consequences of the disease, including hospitalizations, ICU admissions and deaths," the statement said.
The rise in infections in China has raised concerns worldwide and doubts about reporting, as official data on cases and deaths are low and some hospitals and morgues are overcrowded.
