A project was launched in Moscow in which artificial intelligence will "look through" CT scans of patients and identify aortic aneurysms. As specified by the deputy mayor of Moscow for social development Anastasia Rakova, it is not necessary to undergo a special procedure.

AI will analyze all CT examinations received by the EMIAS Unified Radiology Information Service.

For example, a patient takes a CT scan of the lungs to detect pneumonia, but at the same time the artificial intelligence "looks through" the image for the presence of an aortic aneurysm. As a result, the AI will analyze thousands of images daily, Rakova emphasized.

If a pathology is detected, the images will be sent to specialists for further analysis. If the suspicion is confirmed, the doctors will contact the patient and prescribe additional examinations, and the patient will be under control of a special working group of experienced cardiovascular surgeons of the Sklifosovsky Scientific Research Institute.

The technology has already been tested. Thus, according to the results of radiology studies, aneurysms were detected in 22 Muscovites, some of whom were not even aware of their problems with the cardiovascular system.
