Going to the toilet unnecessarily is bad for your health. According to physiotherapist Esther Stubbs, the bladder should empty only when it is full, writes The Sun.

When a person goes to the bathroom without really needing to, urinary incontinence can develop because a person habituates the bladder to empty even when it is not full.

At the first symptoms of urinary incontinence you should start doing Kegel exercises, the doctor advises. But first, he recommends getting an examination and finding out whether such exercises will do any harm. It is also necessary to give up foods that will cause irritation to the bladder.

And in cases where incontinence has already developed, before sneezing or coughing, it is necessary to strain the pelvic floor muscles, says the specialist. This closes the sphincter of the bladder neck at dangerous moments.
