The coronavirus pandemic will last in the world until 2026.
In a report by scientists from the British Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) on the government's website, they say that the coronavirus pandemic needs to be controlled for another five years.
"SARS-CoV-2 will continue to threaten the health care system and require active control through vaccination and data monitoring," the experts say, and warn that this time period could increase if ongoing efforts to contain COVID-19 are not fully effective.
Experts also report that cases of infection with the new Omicron strain have been identified in Britain.
