A Donbass resident was found to have worms in her liver that can kill a person

The problem of parasite infestations from livestock is already a thing of the past. Today's cases are mainly found in African countries. The health of livestock is monitored by veterinarians, and regulatory authorities actively control meat shops and marketers.

However, even with these activities, there are people who encounter dangerous parasites. Even in our time, when medicine has made significant progress, these parasites can lead to severe consequences, including disability and death.

Recently, a resident of Lugansk sought help from doctors in Rostov as she was threatened by echinococcus worms that could have led to her death. This became clear after the surgery she had to undergo.

Echinococcal disease is a serious condition that can affect various organs including the liver, lungs, spleen, muscles and sometimes even the brain and heart. You can even get infected just by eating unwashed fruits or vegetables, or drinking contaminated water.

Without timely medical attention, echinococcal infection can lead to serious consequences, up to death. In order to save the patient's life, doctors decided to perform a radical operation: they performed a laparoscopic liver resection, during which all the affected parts of the organ were removed through small incisions under the control of a video camera.

The operation was successful, and a few months after the operation the patient's liver is expected to recover completely. This once again emphasizes the importance of timely seeking medical help in case of suspicion of such diseases.

Earlier, scientists discovered a protein that increases the risk of liver cancer. Also, the doctor warned about the harm of tea in pyramids. And scientists also said that vitamin D can have a preventive effect against cancer.
