Turkey's medical union has called on the government to bring back covid restrictions as more people in the country have recently become infected, Haberler reported.

The union proposes returning masks to indoor areas, vaccinating children, expanding testing, and publishing weekly incidence reports (they are now published weekly).

The mask regime in Turkey was lifted at the end of May, when fewer than 1,000 infected people per day were recorded. In mid-June the number of detected cases began to grow again, reaching 4,000 per day. Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koça said the situation was stable.

During the last week, from June 20 to 26, 26.6 thousand cases of covid were registered in the country.
