Another COVID-19 vaccine to be tested in Germany

German scientists have developed a vaccine based on a modified smallpox virus.

In Germany, the pharmaceutical company IDT Biologika received permission to conduct clinical trials of a vaccine for coronavirus infection. This was reported on the website of the German Institute for the Development of Vaccines and Biomedical Medicines named after Paul Ehrlich.

IDT Biologika developed the vaccine together with the German Center for Infection Research.

The first stage of clinical trials will be conducted on 30 volunteers from 18 to 55 years old. All of them will be vaccinated twice at intervals of four weeks.

If the tests are successful, the elderly residents of Germany will be allowed to the second stage of the study, which is scheduled for the end of 2020.
