WHO reported a 9% decline in the global incidence of coronavirus in a week.
In the past week, more than 6.5 million people became ill with coronavirus infection, and more than 14,000 people died. The World Health Organization (WHO) said Wednesday that infections were down 9 percent from the previous seven days and deaths were down 3 percent.
Increases in infections were recorded in the Western Pacific (plus 20 percent) and in Africa (plus 5 percent). However, the incidence decreased markedly in Europe (minus 35%) and in the Eastern Mediterranean (minus 12%). The Western Pacific recorded a significant increase in mortality (plus 44%). At the same time, it decreased in Europe (minus 26%).
Japan reported the highest number of people infected during the week with 1,379,099. It was followed by the United States (923,366), the Republic of Korea (544,437), Germany (459,724) and Italy (394,583).
