The third patient, Alfiya, who had been suffering from cirrhosis of the liver for a long time, received a healthy organ.
Sergey Semchenko, head of the organ and tissue transplant center, emphasized that modern surgical methods make it possible to fully use the tissues of one donor to save several patients.
The hospital doctors consider this strategy optimal, since hundreds of patients in need of a heart, kidney or liver transplant are on the waiting list for a transplant, the local publication tumentoday.ru reports.
