The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that the number of people in the world who suffer from obesity is growing.
According to experts, the number of overweight adults has doubled since 1990, and among children and adolescents aged five to 19, the figure has quadrupled.
There are now more than one billion obese people in the world.
"This new study emphasizes the importance of preventing and treating obesity from early childhood to adulthood through diet, physical activity and appropriate care, if needed," said WHO director general Tedros Adanom Ghebreyesus.
Rosstat said that more than 419,000 cases of obesity were diagnosed in Russia in 2022.
