Three years after Covid-19 was declared a "public health emergency of international concern," the World Health Organization (WHO) decided Monday to maintain the maximum level of pandemic preparedness.
WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Gebreyesus thus followed the recommendations of the Emergency Committee on Covid-19, which decided to "proceed with caution" to "mitigate possible negative consequences," he stressed. The experts, meeting for the 14th time Friday, believe that "the Covid-19 pandemic (is) probably in a transitional phase."
