As of February 1, Denmark lifted all restrictions previously imposed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Restaurants and nightclubs are reopened in the country, and masks need only be worn when visiting hospitals. This decision was made by the authorities due to the high level of vaccination of the population. More than 60% of Danes have already had their third vaccination against covid, reports AFP.

In Denmark, 40,000 to 50,000 new people infected with covid each day, less than 1 percent of the country's total population. Local health authorities believe that 80 percent of the Danish population is protected from a severe form of the coronavirus. If they test positive for covid, citizens are advised to self-isolate for four days, all contact persons no longer need isolation.

A number of restrictions are still in effect at the country's borders for unvaccinated tourists coming from countries outside the Schengen area. Denmark was the first country in Europe to remove all restrictions.
