In Russia in the first half of 2024 issued a record number of car loans - almost 800 thousand. This is 97% more than in the same period of 2023, when the number of loans amounted to 406 thousand.
The volume of lending also increased significantly and reached RUB 1.14 trillion, which is 2.15 times higher than in the first half of 2023, when it amounted to RUB 532.6 billion.
The growth in auto lending is explained by the low base effect due to the shortage of new cars in early 2023 and the recovery of mass car deliveries since the middle of last year.
Alexei Volkov, marketing director of the National Bureau of Credit Histories (NBKI), told TASS that the expected increase in interest rates also contributed to the growth in loan issuance.
The largest number of car loans was issued in Moscow, the Moscow Region and St. Petersburg. Among the regions with the highest growth - Rostov region, Chuvashia, Samara, Voronezh and Belgorod regions.
