Russia's government debt has increased by 11.6% since the beginning of the year

The authorities assure that the state debt does not exceed the safe level of 20% of GDP.

From the beginning of the year to September, Russia's state debt increased by 11.6%. As RIA Novosti writes, as a result, it reached 17% of the WFP, which does not exceed the safe level of 20%, the Russian authorities note.

As a result, Russia is still among the countries whose government debt ratio is one of the lowest.

If we compare it with other countries, in the U.S. and Italy it exceeds 100%, and in Japan - 260%.

Meanwhile, earlier the Ministry of Finance reported that in September it doubled its investments in the U.S. government debt. According to the Ministry, in September, the volume of Russian investments in U.S. government securities amounted to $73 million. In August, investments amounted to $31 million.
