Electricity tariffs in Japan rose by up to 30% over the year

During the year in Japan electricity tariffs for household use increased by 20% and for industrial use - by 30%. The country's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yasutoshi Nishimura informed about the situation with rising prices.

Reportedly, at a hearing held in one of the committees of the lower house of parliament, Nishimura reported on the change in tariffs, which increased amid rising costs for the purchase of liquefied natural gas and coal, which Japan has almost entirely purchased from other countries.

As a result, as stressed by the Japanese minister, another price hike may also occur in the spring of 2023, when tariffs could rise by about another 30%.

As for the Japanese government's support, the authorities are currently developing a package of measures aimed at mitigating the negative effects that are already noticeably affecting the country's economy.
