Russia has set a limit for transfers without opening an account

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law setting a limit of 100,000 roubles on transfers without opening an account. The document appeared on the website for the official publication of legal acts.

This applies to one-off banking transactions which are carried out with simplified client identification. Before the new law came into force, you had to provide the bank with your passport details, but the maximum amount was not limited.

Under the new format, the amount is not limited, but the transfer can be made without opening an account. However, this does not comply with international anti-money laundering standards. The law will come into force one year after its official publication.

Earlier, the dollar exchange rate during trading on the Moscow Exchange briefly fell below 89 rubles per $1, which happened for the first time since January 30, 2024.
