Russian coal has been getting cheaper since the beginning of the year

According to the report of Gazprombank's Price Index Center, all types of Russian coal fuel in all supply directions have been getting cheaper since the beginning of 2023, Kommersant reports.

Thus, the price of 6 thousand kcal FOB Far East coal fell by 18% to $133 per ton. Coal of 5.5 thousand kcal has become cheaper by 15%, the price has fallen to $122, coal of 5 thousand kcal has fallen by 17% to $104. Coal became 20% cheaper on the FOB Taman, while the price of FOB Baltic coal decreased by 21.1%.

Prices for coal for metallurgy have also decreased.

But on the whole, according to the publication, coal prices remain high with minor fluctuations.

The Russian Minister of Energy Nikolay Shulginov noted that there is indeed a decrease at the beginning of the year, but in the future the situation may level off.
