Social and insurance pensions will be indexed in the coming years.
Olga Batalina, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Protection, said at the Federation Council roundtable on Monday that the average pension in Russia as of January 1, 2021, was 15,744.
Batalina said that the pension could not be lower than the subsistence minimum, in which case a social additional payment would be made. According to the official, as of January 1, 2021, 6.2 million pensioners received such surcharge.
On 23 March, the Ministry of Labour said that from 1 January 2022, the supplementary pension payment will be paid even if a citizen has not written an application to receive it.
