Deputy of the Moscow Duma Anatoly Nikitin proposed an initiative to introduce mandatory pension contributions of 2% of income, which should be a guarantee of receiving insurance pensions. According to Nikitin, the current practice of providing pension security for self-employed workers through voluntary contributions has proved ineffective and does not create incentives for official registration.

An important part of the proposed mechanism is the exemption from compulsory contributions of citizens with income below 24 thousand rubles per month. In addition, the MP proposes to introduce the possibility of voluntary contributions for those who wish to increase their future pension. This innovation will also include the inclusion of pension contributions in the calculation of social benefits, for example, when receiving sickness or maternity benefits, writes ria.ru.

The example given by Nikitin shows that with a monthly income of 50,000 rubles and a payment of 2% per year, it is possible to accumulate pension rates that give entitlement to a minimum pension. This change is intended to create a stable system of work experience for the self-employed.
