Average debtor payment increased by 13.8%
This year, the average monthly amount that Russian debtors pay to debt collectors has exceeded 5,000 rubles, reaching 5.3 thousand rubles in March. This is reported by the National Association of Professional Collection Agencies (NAPCA). Note that this data is based on information from the largest companies that are members of the association.
The average debtor payment increased by 13.8% in the first quarter, which is the largest increase since the third quarter of 2022. Average payments to debt collectors are at their highest level in two years. These are payments to repay debts on loans transferred by banks to specialized debt collectors as part of debt transfer operations.
At the same time, the payment discipline of Russian debtors is improving. This is due to a shift to savings and a reduction in voluntary spending. The growth of real wages has led to more and more customers using free funds to service outstanding loans: according to Rosstat, real wages in Russia will grow by 7.8% in 2023, which is the highest in the last five years.
