The French sporting goods chain Decathlon started looking for a buyer for its Russian assets.
"Sporting goods retailer Decathlon has started looking for a buyer for its assets in Russia," RBC reports, citing sources in major retail chains and consulting companies.
According to them, French Decathlon plans to sell its entire Russian business.
One of the sources said that the retailer also intends to sell the real estate it owns.
The press service of Decathlon did not comment on this information.
The head of the INFOLine analytical company Ivan Fedyakov valued the French chain in the Russian Federation at 13-15 billion rubles.
Decathlon is one of the largest sporting goods retailers in the world, its net profit in 2021 amounted to 913 million euros.
The chain temporarily stopped supplying goods to the Russian market and closed all stores, including online stores, last year amid the events in Ukraine and sanctions. The company said on its Russian website that "sales have been suspended indefinitely".
