In the Russian economy, the gross turnover of the labor force has reached a 30-year high. According to the Higher School of Economics, 1/3 of the employed change their place of work. This was reported by "Kommersant".

The reasons for this in the excess of vacancies and lack of labor force. At the end of last year, the gross labor turnover rate in Russia reached 65%. This is a record high for the entire post-Soviet period.

The mobility of the Russian labor market has accelerated due to the growth of the economy and its restructuring, wrote Rostislav Kapelyushnikov, deputy head of the Center for Labor Research at the Higher School of Economics, in his paper "Escalation of vacancies in the Russian labor market (dynamics, structure, triggers)."

Employees change employers most often in the service sector. The leader in the number of vacancies last year was the hotel and restaurant business, administrative activities, construction, public administration, real estate operations.

Experts note that there are difficulties with staffing in the service sector, but not in the industrial sector.

"According to Kommersant, the "salary race" may reduce the number of available vacancies. A number of enterprises may not be able to withstand it and either automate production or leave the market.

According to the Ministry of Economy's macro forecast, real wages will grow slower this year than in 2023.
