The price of gas in Europe reached a record $2861.6 per thousand cubic meters for the first time since 1996

On August 22, the price at the auction temporarily went over $3,000 per thousand cubic meters.

The settlement price of gas in Europe for August 23 reached a record level since 1996, since the start of gas hubs operation.

The blue fuel is now trading at $2861.6 per thousand cubic meters, according to data from London's ICE exchange.

Earlier, on August 22, gas started a "panic" growth, temporarily reaching for the first time in history above $3,000 per thousand cubic meters.

Earlier, it became known that Gazprom would fully shut down the Nord Stream pipeline for three days starting from August 29 because of planned repair of the only operating turbine.

Recall that in July the gas was traded at $1764 per thousand cubic meters on the TTF exchange, and since the beginning of August the price jumped to $2237.
