Low-income Russians will be able to open one social bank account and one social deposit in a bank from July 2025. The corresponding law was signed by President Vladimir Putin.
Citizens receiving social assistance will be able to exercise this right. It will be possible to open an account or deposit via “Gosuservices”. It will be necessary to deposit no more than 50,000 roubles. Deposits in foreign currency are prohibited.
The bank will set the maximum interest rate on the social deposit. Also will not take interest for transfers, but their amount during the month should not exceed Br20 thousand.
The social bank deposit agreement will be concluded for a year. It will be possible to extend it, provided that the person will continue to receive social support.
