Italy has become the main buyer of Russian gas in the European Union

In the first month of spring, Italy bought 2.6 times more gas - for 238.5 million euros. This is the highest figure since February 2023.

Italy has become the main buyer of Russian gas among the EU countries. The country increased its gas reserves in March. This was reported by RIA Novosti, citing data from the European Statistical Service.

For the first month of spring Italy bought 2.6 times more gas - by 238.5 million euros. This is the maximum figure since February last year.

The second major buyer was Spain. It bought 196 million euros worth of gas. Hungary is in third place (174 million euros).

Gas supplies from Russia to the European Union increased by 2.3% to 11.4 billion euros. Pipeline gas accounted for 602.6 million, liquefied natural gas - 539 million.

Earlier it was written that Russia continues to export hydrocarbons to the EU. European countries bought from Russia oil, petroleum products and gas for 29.1 billion euros last year.
