At the beginning of 2023 the volume of supplies of Russian platinum to China increased 279 times. This was reported by RBK citing the data of the General Administration of Customs of China.
In a conversation with the newspaper, representatives of Nornickel explained that the reason for the growth of precious metal trade between the countries is the reorientation of the domestic economy from the West to Asia.
"Imports of platinum from Russia to China increased 279 times compared to the same period last year in physical terms (from 5.99 kilograms to 1.67 tons), in monetary terms - 265 times (from $200,000 to $53 million)," the report said.
The statistics is also called about palladium, the supply of which went up by 8.5 times (from 32 kilograms to 2.72 tons), while in monetary terms - by 5.6 times. In addition, there was a sevenfold increase in the supply of rhodium, which, as well as platinum, is used in the production of catalysts.
