On Wednesday, February 21, the Central Bank of Russia decided to revoke the licence of Qiwi Bank. This news was accompanied by the financial organisation's announcement to block the withdrawal of funds from Qiwi wallets. Experts note that such actions of the regulator were not unexpected, given the previous sanctions imposed on this structure.
Denis Kuskov, head of the Telecom Daily information and analytical agency, stressed to Komsomolskaya Pravda radio that the Central Bank has repeatedly applied sanctions against Kiwi Bank over the past year. He urges Russians to be more careful when placing their financial assets in such systems, as no one can guarantee that such a situation will not happen again.
According to him, a person who uses Qiwi and similar wallets should realise the risks he bears. In this case, you can keep there only the amount that is necessary for your current turnover, the expert said.
The revocation of the licence of Qiwi Bank is related to accusations of violating the legislation preventing money laundering and financing of terrorism.
