Ministry of Energy: Russian coal reserves will be enough for the country for 350 years

The ministry has recalculated Russia's coal reserves and concluded that they will be sufficient for another 350 years. And that's without taking into account the growing production volumes.

Sergei Mochalnikov, Director of the Department for Foreign Economic Cooperation and Development of Fuel Markets, informed about this.

In a conversation with RIA Novosti, the official said that there will be enough coal for a long period: "Coal reserves in Russia exceed 400 billion tons ... At the current level of production, it will last for about 350 years."

In particular, as Sergei Mochalnikov said, the reserves of the Yakutsk Elga coal mine amount to 2.2 billion tons of coal.

Moreover, the volume of coal production in Russia is growing all the time. As a result, it is expected that by the end of 2021 the growth will be 6%.
