In Russia, wholesale prices for pork decreased by 7-12% over the month. The wholesale price of a half-carcass of pork is 181 rubles (minus 12%) according to the data for May 12-June 16. A ham costs 260 rubles (minus 7.7%). This was reported by Kommersant.

The wholesale price of pork is comparable to chicken. Broiler carcass went up to 179 rubles per 1 kg in wholesale (plus 5%).

According to the general director of the National Union of Pork Producers (NUP), Yuri Kovalev, wholesale pork prices have gone down due to increased supply in the domestic market. There is a small surplus of pork, emphasized the director of Rincon Management Konstantin Korneev. The expert explained that consumer interest from meat has shifted to fruits and vegetables.

For 6 months of this year in Russia produced about 3 million pork. The indicator grew by 5.8%.

It was planned to export meat to China, which in September last year lifted a 15-year ban on pork imports from the Russian Federation. RF sent 240 thousand tons of pork abroad in 2023 (5% of total production). In January-June, pork exports increased by only 2% to 121 thousand tons.

But the cost of pork for consumers has not yet changed. For the past few weeks, the meat costs 346 rubles per 1 kg.

Earlier it was reported that the first train of export service "Meat Shuttle" delivered to China frozen Bryansk beef. The weight of the batch amounted to 464 tons.

By the way, Belarus, Brazil and Paraguay supplied the most meat to Russia in 2023.
