According to the Bank of Russia, the volume of mortgage loans closed early, decreased by 10%. A smaller volume was recorded only in the third quarter of 2022 - 342 billion rubles.
In general, last year Russians closed mortgages for more than 2 trillion rubles. In annual terms, the volume of such repayments increased by a third (32%). The amount of loans paid before the deadline increased in January-September, but in October-December decreased by 7%. This is an atypical situation for the end of the year, but at that time the key rate was raised several times. Thus, the decline in the number of early repayments has been observed for two consecutive quarters.
According to the Central Bank, compatriots take a mortgage for an average of 25 years. The indicator has increased by 12 months compared to 2023.
Managing Director of the rating service NRA Sergey Grishunin said that borrowers have no incentive to repay loans early.
