Russia and the United Arab Emirates will establish a joint venture to develop a supersonic business class passenger aircraft.
Denis Manturov, the Russian Minister of Industry and Trade, made the announcement during his working trip to the UAE.
He noted that the UAE sovereign fund Abu Dhabi Mubadala will participate in the development and creation of the aircraft, and the United Aircraft Corporation - on the side of Russia.
Two versions of the aircraft are planned: a VIP aircraft with a seating capacity of up to 8 people and a passenger aircraft with a seating capacity of up to 30 people.
By the end of 2021/early 2022, it is planned to develop the external shape of the future supersonic aircraft. It is expected to reach speeds of Mach 1.5-1.8.
It should be reminded that supersonic speed is considered to be Mach 1 to Mach 5.
