December futures for North Sea Brent crude oil rose in value to $86.01 per barrel at 6:13 Moscow time. By 7:02 the price had corrected to $85.76. At the end of trading, the price rose by more than 1%.
The last time the price of a barrel of Brent exceeded $86 was only in 2018.
WTI crude oil as of 6:13 a.m. was above $83. The price later corrected to $82.93. The growth in value at the end of trading was 1.5%.
