The indicator of the population's indebtedness has become a record since 2015.
Russians are planning to collect debts of Br3.26 trillion in favour of banks. The figure for last year increased by more than 200 billion roubles. The Izvestia newspaper cited statistics from the Federal Bailiff Service.
The agency had 24.6 million enforcement proceedings pending last year. The indicator exceeded last year by 4.5 million. The number of proceedings in 2021 and 2020 was equal to 16.1 and 12.9 million, respectively.
The agency explained that the number of open proceedings is not equal to the number of persistent defaulters. One person may have it open for several loans.
At the end of last year, the Central Bank reported that in January-October 2023, Russians borrowed Br34.8 trillion. The loan portfolio of the population grew by 6 trillion. The indicator of borrowing became a record since 2015.
