Wholesale prices for potatoes and cabbage have risen by 70% in Russia

The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Industry and Trade plan to increase the volume of potato purchases from suppliers from CIS countries. The reason for this is a rise in the price of Russian wholesale for these items.

According to Izvestia, in letters to the government, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut says that wholesale potatoes from Russian suppliers have risen in price by 71.4% compared to 2020, cabbage - by 70%, and carrots - by 44%.

The publication writes that for the same potato the climate was very unfavorable. But, even so, at the moment, 6.6 million tons have already been dug up. Which, as explained in the Ministry of Agriculture, corresponds to last year's level.

Also, as noted, the harvesting of the culture continues. The department assures that the harvested crop will be able to meet the domestic needs of the country.
