In 2021, Ukraine increased foreign exchange spending on the purchase of Russian hard coal (anthracite) by 48%. In monetary terms, this is $1.5 billion.
The purchase of coal and related costs are reported on the website of the State Customs Service of Ukraine.
It is specified that in 2021 Kiev spent $494.636 million on the supply of American anthracite (19.88% of total imports), a year earlier the amount was less: $480.319 million.
Kazakhstan occupied the third place among the largest suppliers of coal to Ukraine. Last year, Ukraine purchased coal from this country for $253.469 million (10.18% of total imports), a year earlier - for $126.103 million.
