Russia’s investments in U.S. government securities increase by $1 billion

The level of Russia's investments in US government bonds in December 2020 rose to six billion dollars. These figures were released by the US Treasury.

Reportedly, during the month Russian investments in US government securities increased by one billion dollars. Last month the figure was at 4.9 billion dollars.

It is specified that out of $6 billion, $1.2 billion are long-term bonds, the remaining $4.8 billion are short-term bonds.

As previously reported, Russian investments in US government bonds peaked in February 2013. At that time, the figure was at $164.3 billion. Then, starting in 2014, the Russian Federation began to withdraw its reserves from US securities.

As a result, by March 2020, Russia's investments in US government debt amounted to $3.85 billion.
