According to TASS with reference to the Chinese customs, in December the volume of trade between Russia and China reached $16.44 billion, having risen by 11.5% compared to November. In 2019, trade between the two countries amounted to $110.75 billion. However, the following year, due to the coronavirus pandemic, it decreased by 2.9%, to $107.76.

One of the topics of discussion was the creation of an independent infrastructure, within which the trade operations of Russia and China will be served without the participation of third countries.
