The share of the Russian Federation in bitcoin mining increased to 11%, becoming the third largest in the world. The ratio of states in mining the first cryptocurrency changed after new amendments in Chinese legislation, TASS cites information from the Cambridge University business school.

Economists conducted a study to determine the actual share of states in bitcoin mining. The PRC has cut its percentage from 75 in September 2019 to near zero after a recent ban.

In this indicator, the United States is leading with a score of 35.4%, which is twice the data of the previous report from the University of Cambridge. Kazakhstan is on the second line with a share of 18.1%, since many miners from China moved there. Russia is in third place in the ranking. Canada, Ireland, Malaysia, Germany and Iran are also serious players, whose share exceeds 3%.

Cryptocurrencies are becoming more popular in countries with capital constraints. This conclusion was made earlier by the authors of the World Bank study.
