The Ministry of Economy of Georgia said that 16 billion cubic meters of gas have been found

16 billion cubic meters of gas reserves have been found in Georgia. The head of the National Agency of Gas and Oil of the Ministry of Economy of the republic Georgi Tatishvili informed about it.

Speaking to the local media, he said that the country's authorities have confirmed the discovery of 16 billion cubic meters of gas reserves.

"To make it clear, I will tell you that this volume is equivalent to eight years of gas consumption of the entire Georgia," he noted.
Tatishvili specified that the field was found near Tbilisi. The gas production project will be developed at the end of 2022 or the beginning of the next year.

It should be noted that Georgia buys some gas from Russia, imports resumed in 2019 after a break. The country also buys fuel from Azerbaijan.
