The number of shoplifting in Poland has skyrocketed.
In Polish cities, the number of shoplifting cases has increased amid an active price increase, Rzeczpospolita reports, citing statistics from the main police department.
In January-June 2023 the number of shoplifting cases increased by 40% compared to the same period last year.
The publication noted that the reasons for the increase in crime were the economic crisis and inflation.
According to Robert Bigai, an expert on the retail market of Offerista Group, the increased thefts will lead to an even greater increase in the cost of goods, as stores will try to compensate for the damage caused.
Earlier, Poland complained about an epidemic of "beggar thefts".
