The Federal Antimonopoly Service has proposed an initiative to limit the preferential consumption of electricity for citizens, according to Kommersant.

It is proposed to introduce a new methodology under which the limit will be calculated on the basis of actual regional energy consumption figures. Currently, in those regions where a differentiated tariff has been introduced, it has no such reference, and, as a result, it is many times higher than the actual consumption.

According to experts, the implementation of the FAS proposal may lead to an increase in tariffs for those who exceed the limit of preferential consumption by an average of 40%, but the limit itself will remain high enough, so the regions may agree to this compromise option.

The Federal Antimonopoly Service has sent to the government a new concept of tariff differentiation for households, according to which the rate increases when household electricity consumption increases.

The service seeks to set a certain consumption bar for preferential tariffs, which is proposed to be calculated on the basis of the standard and the actual average consumption of electricity in the region.

Earlier it was reported about the temporary power outage in Krasnodar Krai, caused by the abnormal summer heat wave and affecting a record number of residents.
