Scientists predict that the bearing capacity of permafrost soils will decrease by more than half by 2050.
The damage from the degradation of permafrost in the Arctic in the next ten years may amount to 5 trillion rubles by 2025. This was reported by the first deputy head of the Russian Ministry for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic, Gadzhimagomed Huseynov.
According to him, the Arctic zone is on permafrost. The process of permafrost thawing is being observed, and it is accelerating, he said.
The projected damage from permafrost degradation by 2050 may amount to at least RUB 5 trillion.
According to Huseynov, preservation of ecology and environmental protection in the Arctic are priority tasks of Russia's state policy. These tasks and goals are defined in strategic planning documents in the sphere of socio-economic development of the ASRF and ensuring national security in this region.
Scientists predict that the bearing capacity of permafrost soils will decrease by more than half by 2050. Huseynov emphasized that such dynamics poses a danger to civil and industrial construction projects. According to him, due to warming, the conditions for preserving the stability of permafrost soils have been violated. This creates risks for preserving the stability of buildings. The processes have accelerated in the last five years.
