The lower house of the Russian parliament adopted a law on simplified identification of persons wishing to exchange banknotes in banks.

This document will allow credit institutions not to ask their clients for a passport or other identity document when exchanging or replacing banknotes or coins for an amount that does not exceed 40 thousand rubles.

Thus, the law, which will take effect from the day of its official promulgation, raises the threshold amount of operations for exchanging banknotes or coins of one denomination into banknotes or coins of a different denomination from 15 thousand to 40 thousand rubles. If the corresponding operations are performed in the amount of 40 thousand - 100 thousand rubles, then it is allowed to carry out simplified identification of persons.

It is noted that the new rules will simplify the process of interaction of individuals with banks when exchanging and replacing banknotes or coins.
