The use of a government services account for authorization or withdrawal of funds on marketplaces may carry certain risks, experts warn. Lawyer Vitaly Revzin emphasizes that this practice may lead to the leakage of personal data and its subsequent use by attackers.
He advises to agree to such authorization only in case of extreme necessity, for example, when buying goods that are not available on the Russian market, Aif.ru writes.
In turn, Yulia Tyurina, a professor at the Finuniversity under the Government of the Russian Federation, noted that some Russian marketplaces require users' wallets to be linked to their state services account in order to withdraw funds. This has its own financial risks associated with the possibility of access to personal data through an account on "Gosuslugi".
On the other hand, Vitaly Revzin notes that the requirement of such verification is not illegal in itself, as marketplaces have the right to verify users' personal data when making international purchases. In this case, in case of any error in the data, the ordered goods will not be shipped in Russia, says the lawyer. Personal will also be needed in the case of ordering goods from countries outside the EAEU Customs Union.
