The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) will check the fairness of pricing of dairy products in Russia.
Members of the Duma Committee on Agrarian Affairs asked the antimonopoly inspectors to check high markups on dairy products in the Russian Federation.
The MPs appealed to the head of FAS indicates that this year the purchasing prices of raw milk have decreased by 15-20%, but the retail chains maintain high markups on dairy products - from 40 to 150%, Izvestia.
The deputies point out that the growth in consumption and demand for dairy products is largely hampered by the pricing policy of retail chains, which set the entry cost thresholds, resulting in lower prices of raw milk, while for the consumer increases.
Oleg Nilov, first deputy head of the Duma's Committee on Agricultural Affairs, thinks it's "strange" that retail stores are increasing prices on dairy products rather than reducing them, despite the reduction in purchase prices.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service said that the MPs' request was submitted to the Service and it is being worked on.
