There are more coffee shops in Russia's big cities. In 2023, their number in cities with one million inhabitants will increase by 10% compared to 2022, when it decreased by 27%. Businesses are now focusing on smaller coffee shops due to the growing popularity of takeaway coffee and the increased costs of launching an establishment.
Last year in cities with a population of 1 million people counted 15.4 thousand coffee shops. This was reported by Kommersant.
In Moscow the number of such outlets grew to 5.96 thousand (+11.38%), in St. Petersburg - to 2.96 thousand (+10.51%). The highest growth rates were recorded in Krasnodar - up to 1.15 thousand coffee shops (+15.93%), in Yekaterinburg - up to 699 (+14.59%) and in Volgograd - up to 251 (+12.56%).
In Kazan the number of coffee shops remained the same. The least number of such establishments opened in Chelyabinsk (up to 400 outlets, by 1.01%) and Voronezh (up to 327 outlets, +3.15%).
In Nizhny Novgorod the number of coffee shops decreased to 348 (by 5.43%).
