The most popular cereals may go up in price in Russia. Arkady Zlochevsky, president of the Russian Grain Union, informed about it.
In a conversation with Radio Sputnik, Zlochevsky predicted that this year's rice harvest will be slightly less than usual. "... About 900 thousand tons instead of the usual one million and 100 thousand tons," he added.
According to the president of the union, about 300,000 tons of rice grown in Russia are exported every year. As for the domestic market, it receives about 800 thousand tons of Russian and 200 thousand tons of imported rice.
At the same time, the expert noted that explosive growth of rice prices should not be expected, but price growth within 10% is quite probable. "It will be a little more expensive than last season, but not much," summarized Zlochevsky.
