Central banks of the world bought a record amount of gold in the third quarter

The World Gold Council (WGC) registered a record figure on purchase of gold by central banks of the world in the amount of 399.3 tons.

World Gold Council World Gold Council recorded a record in the third quarter of 2022, which set the world central banks. They bought 399.3 tons of gold, which is 114.6% more than the quarter before. The largest buyers were Turkey, Uzbekistan and Qatar.

The organization noted that this was the largest quarterly purchase of precious metal since 2000. The previous record was recorded in the third quarter of 2018, but then the figure was two times lower. Central banks purchased 241 tons of gold during this period.

It is specified that the total volume of purchases since the beginning of the year amounted to 673.01 tons, which is also higher than the figures for similar periods recorded since 1967.
